The word Sundarban means ‘beautiful forest’. It is a immeasurable area in the Ganges delta comprising a network of 108 swampy, two-third low-lying landmass amidst one- third water bodies of 450 river, canal and creeks, mainly fresh water flows north to south direction and sediments deposited in the delta covered with enormous brackish mud flats contain 28 species true mangrove plants boast of a variety of flora and diversified faunal array to bring an unequaled diverse wildlife

Sundarban Mangrove ecosystems are of massive ecological significance which Situated mostly in southwest Bangladesh, a small portion of it lies in India. The Indian part of the forest is estimated to be about 19 percent, while the Bangladeshi part is 81 percent. Three wildlife Sanctuaries superb by sedges, legumes, algal, grasses a variety of terrestrial shrubs and Magical mangrove trees where stealthily spotted deer, Macaque and wild boar survive and ferocious Bengal tiger its roam beyond various wildlife. Its declared as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1997.

Every year many travelers expedition in and around of these wildlife sanctuaries and mostly viewed sites – namely – KATKA, KACHIKHALI and HERON POINT. 

The Sundarbans incident four tides each day, on a six-hour round and wildlife view in the low tide than high tides.

Flora: overall 334 plants, The major tree species is Sundry which covers about 73% to total landmass and the second species is Gewa which covers about 16% of entire forest area. The plant species include 35 legumes, 29 grasses, 19 sedges, and 18 spurges,165 algal, 13 special orchids, 17 fern, 87 monocotyledon and 230 dicotyledon belonging to 245 genera and 75 families from the sundarbans and adjacent area are found available. 50 true mangrove plant species recorded throughout the globe, the Sundarbans only hold 35 species.


FISH - The Sundarban ecology supports rich fisheries diversity supports 24 species of shrimps, 8 species of lobsters, 7 species of crabs, 42 species of mollusks and 225 species of fish among them 120 species of commercially important fishes are available harvesting by the fisherman.

Avifauna - Birds is the best indication of beauty in nature. in Sundarbans 315 species have been recorded - 8 species king fisher including the common brown-winged kingfishers, Jungle red fowl and  the globally threatened lesser adjutants, masked fin foots birds of prey such as the ospreys, white-bellied sea eagles, grey-headed and Pallas fish eagles.

Aquatic fauna
Some fish and amphibians originate in the Sundarbans are butter fish, electric ray, common carp, king crab, silver carp, barb, river eels, starfish, sawfish, fiddler crab, hermit crab, prawn, shrimps, river dolphins, skipping frogs, common toads and tree frogs. One mostly exciting amphibious fish species is the mudskipper that climbs out of the water into mudflats and even climbs trees.

Predators:
42 species of mammal among them 25 vital mammalian species - significant habitats for the endangered Bengal tiger.The forest also contains leopard --  other smaller predators namely- Asian house shrew, Greater short-nosed fruit bat, Indian flying fox, Greater false vampire bat, tail-less leaf-nosed bat, Rhesus macaque , Red-cheeked squirrel, Greater bandicoot rat, Black rat, Little Indian field mouse, Porcupines, Humpback dolphin, Short-beaked common dolphin, Irrawaddy dolphin, South Asian river dolphin, Bengal fox, Golden jackal, Indian grey mongoose,Fishing cat, Jungle cat, Wild boar, Indian muntjac and monitor lizard.
It is expected that there are now 106 Bengal tigers and about 30,000 to 50,000 spotted deer in the area. Semi aquatic mammal namely The small-clawed otter moves in families often seen during low tides in the creeks.

Reptiles: Sundarbans is also home to 50 reptiles species including Estuarine  crocodiles are large aquatic reptiles is common and others are king cobras, Indian flap-shelled turtles, house geckos, monitor lizards, The river terrapin, hawksbill turtles, pythons, common kraits, green vine snake,  olive ridley turtles, sea snakes, dog-faced water snakes, green turtles, estuarine crocodiles, chameleons, Russell's vipers, checkered keelbacks and rat snakes. peacock soft-shelled turtles, Bengal monitors , water monitors and Indian pythons.

Tour itinerary:
Day-01:  Paddle wheel steamer cruise
our guide will pick you to the sadarghat reaching by 04:00 PM for an exciting Paddle wheel steamer cruise globally known was launch in Bangladesh in the late 18th century by the British India General Navigation Railway Company built with unique design rare chance of sinking dilapidated torpedo-shaped two storey vessels comfortable as symbol of speed, safety and aristocracy once renowned and elite classes people cruises to Mongla and Khulna via Chandpur, Barisal and Hularhat. There were six paddle steamers built with steam engines from Europe and India now converted into diesel-run engines and electro-hydraulic engines. Presently only 4 paddle wheel steamer namely – PS Masud, PS Ostrich, PS Lepcha, PS Tern and introduced 2 new ships--MV Bangali and MV Madhumati launches according to the paddle steamer model operated from Dhaka every day except Friday started 04:00 PM from Badamtoli departing by 06:30 PM from Sadarghat terminal.

Day-02: Mongla to Katka
In the beginning of the Sundarbans forest protected zone a few hundred fisherman devastating natural breeding system catching fish and young shrimp.
On the way of our cruise we find before 200 meters of forested land and front of Daingmari forest office Known to be a popular course for dolphins and other aquatic animals once we find very rare hambok dolphin species. at around 09:30 AM leave the rocket for one hour car journey to the Ruins of Bagerhat are the remnants of the famous city of Khalifatabad from the medieval period established by Saint Ulug Khan Jahan. UNESCO declared World heritage sites- his sixty dome mosque although made many beautiful Mosque, we also visit Nine domed Mosque, lakes, the tomb of Khan Jahan Ali. In the afternoon drive another an hour to Pashur hotel. Late in the afternoon experience the coastal villages by auto rickshaw van having fresh air of the Sundarbans.

Day-04: whole day diverse wildlife and magical mangrove forest expeditions
Sundarbans is the unique ecological place for bird watchers, early in the morning alarm wake up for an exciting bird watching trip by silent boat through Katka canal / creeks chance to see the bird life and wildlife very close. Before entering in the canal right side sea faces mud flats where flying birds of prey hunting fishes and crabs. In the canal many species of birds you will find mostly brawn winged king fisher, ruddy king fisher deep of the creeks, racket tailed drongo, magpie robin, common king fisher, fish eagle on the top of die tree, bee eater and many if high tide closely viewed macaque and deer, green vine snake if low tides may find oriental small otters and pug print in the muddy bank, return to the boat having breakfast.

Only one hour time for walking through forest en-route to the Tiger hill we find many deer and macaque under the keora tree and our conducted guide will broken branch of the tree where all of the deer eating with fear.

After having bath and fruits / cookies eating return to the boat and its start cruise about to Kachikhali meantime late lunch will be served on vessel, on the way of cruise look out may find obscure Bengal tiger swimming in the canal.

A BBQ dinner will be served and our boat few hours back to anchor nearby canal.

Day-05: bird canal expeditions + Berrikhal canal and Herbaria
early in the morning bird canal expeditions here surrounding mangrove apple and mangrove trees very spectacular by bird watchers as maximum species of bird observe here, water monitor, rhesus macaque also common. Return to the vessel for heading Berrikhal crisscrosses canal where diverse wildlife marked from the boat. Both side green trees and wildlife attracts any travelers, we find masked fin foot, lesser adjutant and greater egrets, several time we found crocodile baking in the sun, water monitor lying in tree, macaque make your return journey memorable.

In the afternoon leave the vessel for Harbaria Eco tourism sight-seeing from wooden made path searching Tiger foot print in the forest floor, continue on to the boat for Mongla catching train / Scania Volvo bus journey to Dhaka.

If visitors use return flight from Jessore to Dhaka just 02:30 pm should be leave the vessel for catching evening flight.
